Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture 8 Mile is the official music soundtrack to the 2002 movie 8 Mile, starring Eminem, who raps on five of the tracks on this soundtrack. It was released under the Shady/Interscope label. The album debuted at #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart that year, and finished the year as the fifth best-selling album of 2002 with US sales of 3.2 million, despite only two months of release. [1]. It also reached #1 on the UK Compilations Chart and the Australian ARIAnet Albums Chart. It featured Eminem's worldwide chart-topping single, "Lose Yourself". It also spawned a follow up soundtrack, More Music from 8 Mile, consisting of songs that appear in "8 Mile" that were current singles during the film's time setting of 1995.

- Eminem is the second artist ever to have a number 1 album (8 Mile OST), number 1 song (Lose Yourself), and number 1 movie (8 mile) in America all at the same time, Prince achieved the same feat with Purple Rain (film), Purple Rain (album) and When Doves Cry.
- Eminem had two number one albums in 2002. One being The Eminem Show and the other being the 8 Mile Soundtrack.
- He was the only artist to have two albums in the top 5 bestselling albums of the 2002. The Eminem Show was ahead of all competition with 7.6 million sold by the end of the year (the second highest selling album was Nelly's Nellyville which sold 4.8 million and the 8 Mile Soundtrack was in fifth place with 3.2 million sold by the end of the year despite only being in stores for two short months.
