The Interahamwe were known as hutu-extremist. it was President Habyarimana's own political party that organized a youth movement called interahamwe, which means "those who attack together." it attracted thousands of homeless kid, and its memnbership spread across the country like a virus. Many of its members were trained to fight and kill by government-army soldiers. they traveled in packs and wore informal uniforms-baggy print shirt of bright red,yellow,and green that resembled the flag of their political party.
