[edit] Gilchrist Peer review

Hey, thanks again for your generous and constructive comments on Adam Gilchrist's peer review. Hopefully we'll be able to make the changes you've pointed out soon, make references to certain terms consistent and all that jazz. Then he'll be nominated for WP:FA. Hope you'll join in with that discussion too! Cheers! The Rambling Man 11:44, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you - Soldier settlement (Australia)

You probably get a million thank you's for the work you are doing - but please still accept mine on this successful DYK nomination. --VS talk 23:28, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thx

Appreciate your seeing the gem in my (first!) DYK and making it top for the day even. It was pretty close to getting passed by I think, esp. after someone said it should just read 'so-and-so invented x', period. Close call! — SMcCandlish [talk] [contrib] 15:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Saturn devouring his son

Hi. I still think that "more refined" is POV. Because we are only saying "more refined" but nothing about the different circumstances which explain why one is "more refined" and the other less. For example, Goya was in a dark period which Rubens didn't know, Goya's painting wasn't intended to be used in public and, after all, the times were different. Would we say that, for example, Picasso is "less refined" than Velazquez? No, they are just different artists, different times, different everything which means that there is no connection between them other than they both were painters.

If this is not enough convincing, well, usually here in wikipedia "less is more", specially less adjectives such as "refined". Mountolive | Talk 07:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Aikido

Could you take another look to see if your concerns vis a vis the FAC were addressed. Cheers.Peter Rehse 09:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I guess too late. Frankly I thought we met all the critiques so a bit surprised by the rejection. Possibly a change from your Oppose to Support might have made a difference but no worries - I think the article improved a lot through the process and we will resubmit after a few more months.Peter Rehse 08:55, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Up on tippitoes, a mini-mince across the underwear counter and 'You're free!'

You're back! Hurrah and huzzah! You were missed, you know. Thanks for your comment about BL camp. I've somehow become involved in a world far beyond my ken, of GOCs and SRO and Z Special Unit: I'm all at sea and floundering like a baby albatross that's just spotted the great white below. But luckily I have my wise Obi Wan Grant65 to guide me through it all. I only started the article cos my grandparents were in the camp and I wanted to know a bit more about it - here is a woman who turns off the box when the war films come on (well, apart from Ice Cold in Alex which is just the best - if you can look past the silly girlie who lets go of the starting handle on the dune). I digress. Good to have you back, Yomangani. Been anywhere interesting? Jasper33 18:05, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Having poked around in your redlink area (sorry, coming over all Finbarr Saunders there) my guess is you're in Cuba. Lucky bugger. Can't wait for no 267 on the list ... Jasper33 18:16, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Harsh! And is 267 similar to dwarf tossing? Funny you should mention orang utans - a friend of my g/ps kept orang utans which were regularly shipped off to zoos - I seem to remember that Sydney Zoo was the main recipient. I think that's partly why the ship-eating pandas struck a chord. Still, it was during the 30s-50s, when attitudes were very different. One day I'm going to see if I can find out what happened to them. Ta for your offer of help on Batu Lintang. You may well come to wish you hadn't (adopts nasal whining wheedling voice 'Yomangani, I'm stuck ...').Jasper33 08:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A Guide to the Scientific Knowledge of Things Familiar

In light of your artistic leanings, thought you might be interested in this little article I just created. It's a fascinating book. Would value any input you might have on improving the article. GDallimore (Talk) 09:36, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for giving it the once over. I see your points and will think about what I can do to improve it - sadly I have somewhat patchy knowledge about Brewer and his works. I'm liking the idea of having a section dedicated to old wives' tales... GDallimore (Talk) 12:35, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
